Whitespace Cleaner

Fix whitespace issues in pasted text: trim leading/trailing spaces per line, collapse multiple spaces to one, remove extra blank lines, or strip all whitespace entirely. Runs in your browser.

Browser-local No signup required Text

Clean spacing and line breaks in pasted text with four focused operations: trim each line, normalize repeated spaces, collapse excessive blank lines, or reduce all whitespace to single spaces. Processing stays in your browser.

How to clean whitespace

  1. Paste the text you want to clean into the input area.
  2. Choose Trim for leading and trailing spaces on each line, Normalize for repeated spaces and tabs, Collapse blank lines for excessive empty lines, or Strip all for one-space text.
  3. Review the cleaned result in the output area.
  4. Copy the result or clear the workspace and start again.

What each cleanup option does

Trim removes whitespace at the beginning and end of every line while keeping the line structure. Normalize also reduces runs of spaces and tabs inside each line to one space. Collapse blank lines reduces three or more consecutive line breaks to a single blank line and trims the outer edges.

Strip all is the most aggressive option: every run of whitespace, including line breaks and tabs, becomes one regular space. That is useful for turning wrapped or copied text into a single paragraph, but it intentionally removes paragraph and line structure.

Privacy and limitations

Whitespace cleanup runs locally in the browser and does not require the pasted text to be uploaded. The operations are purely character-based and do not understand document layout, code indentation, tables, Markdown structure, or semantic paragraph boundaries, so review structured content before replacing the original.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Trim and Normalize?

Trim only removes whitespace at the edges of each line. Normalize also collapses repeated spaces or tabs inside each line.

Does Collapse blank lines remove every blank line?

No. It reduces excessive runs so that one blank line can remain between sections.

What does Strip all do?

It replaces every run of whitespace, including line breaks, with a single regular space and trims the result.

Is this safe for source code?

Not necessarily. Aggressive whitespace cleanup can change meaningful indentation or spacing in code and structured formats.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Cleanup is performed locally in your browser.
