Line Sorter & Deduplicator

Paste any multi-line text and sort lines A→Z or Z→A, reverse their order, or remove duplicate lines. Useful for sorting lists, cleaning up data, and deduplicating logs.

Browser-local No signup required Text

Sort, reverse, or deduplicate multi-line text in your browser. You can sort lines A to Z or Z to A, reverse their existing order, or remove exact duplicate lines while keeping the first occurrence.

How to sort or deduplicate lines

  1. Paste a multi-line list or text block into the input area.
  2. Choose A to Z, Z to A, Reverse, or Remove duplicates.
  3. Review the transformed lines and the result count.
  4. Copy the cleaned or reordered output for use elsewhere.

How sorting and deduplication work

Alphabetical sorting uses the browser localeCompare behavior for each complete line. Reverse simply flips the current line order. Deduplication uses exact line values, keeps the first occurrence, and removes later lines that match exactly.

The tool does not trim, normalize case, or ignore whitespace before comparing duplicates. For example, "Item" and "item" are different values, and a line with trailing spaces can differ from an otherwise identical line. Use a whitespace-cleaning tool first when you need normalized comparisons.

Privacy and limitations

All line operations happen locally in your browser. Votilo does not need to upload the text. Sorting behavior can vary with locale-sensitive comparison rules, and exact deduplication intentionally does not perform fuzzy matching or semantic comparison.

Frequently asked questions

Does deduplication ignore uppercase and lowercase differences?

No. Duplicate matching is exact and case-sensitive.

Are spaces trimmed before duplicate lines are compared?

No. The current line text is compared as-is.

What does Reverse do?

It flips the current order of all lines without alphabetically sorting them.

How is alphabetical sorting performed?

Each complete line is compared with the browser localeCompare function.

Is the text uploaded?

No. Sorting and deduplication run in your browser.
