Line Deduplicator
Paste a list and strip repeated lines in one click. Choose between case-sensitive or case-insensitive matching, keep the first or last occurrence, and trim whitespace before comparing. Runs in your browser.
Remove duplicate lines from pasted text while keeping the remaining lines in a predictable order. You can choose case-sensitive matching, keep the last occurrence instead of the first, and trim surrounding whitespace before comparison. Processing stays in your browser.
How to remove duplicate lines
- Paste a multi-line list, log, dataset, or block of text into the input area.
- Choose whether matching should be case-sensitive, whether to keep the last duplicate, and whether to trim each line.
- Run the deduplication or simply edit the input and let the result refresh.
- Review how many lines were removed, then copy the cleaned output.
How duplicate matching works
By default, duplicate detection ignores letter case, so values such as “Example” and “example” are treated as the same line. Turn on case-sensitive matching when capitalization should make lines distinct. The trim option removes leading and trailing whitespace before comparison and also outputs the trimmed lines.
The keep-last option is useful when repeated entries represent updates and the most recent occurrence should remain. This tool works well for keyword lists, IDs, URLs, copied spreadsheet values, log snippets, and other line-oriented text where exact or normalized duplicate removal is needed.
Privacy and limitations
The input is processed locally in the browser and is not uploaded to Votilo. Deduplication compares complete lines; it does not detect near-duplicates, spelling variations, semantic similarity, or duplicate records spread across multiple structured fields.
Frequently asked questions
Does the tool preserve line order?
Yes. It preserves the order of the occurrences that are kept. With keep-last enabled, the last occurrence of each duplicate is retained.
Is duplicate matching case-sensitive?
It is case-insensitive by default. Enable the case-sensitive option when uppercase and lowercase versions should count as different lines.
What does Trim lines do?
It removes leading and trailing whitespace from each line before duplicate comparison and uses the trimmed version in the output.
Can it find similar but not identical lines?
No. This tool removes duplicates based on normalized line equality, not fuzzy or semantic similarity.
Is pasted text uploaded?
No. The deduplication runs locally in your browser.
