Browser-local No signup required Text

Turn titles, labels, and phrases into compact URL-friendly slugs. The generator removes punctuation, normalizes spacing, strips common diacritics, and lets you choose hyphens or underscores with optional lowercase output.

How to generate a URL slug

  1. Type or paste a title or phrase into the input field.
  2. Choose hyphens or underscores as the separator.
  3. Keep Lowercase enabled for a conventional web slug, or disable it when case should be preserved.
  4. Review the generated slug and copy it when ready.

How the slug is cleaned

The tool normalizes text, removes combining diacritic marks, removes characters outside common word characters, spaces, underscores, and hyphens, then collapses runs of separators and whitespace into the separator you selected. This is useful for blog paths, filenames, identifiers, and simple permalink drafts.

Slug rules differ between websites and publishing systems. This generator does not check whether a slug is already in use, whether a route exists, or whether a specific CMS has additional reserved words. Non-Latin writing systems and special transliteration requirements may also need a dedicated slug policy.

Privacy and limitations

Slug generation is performed locally in your browser and the text you enter does not need to be uploaded to Votilo. The output is a formatting suggestion only; uniqueness, routing compatibility, redirects, and SEO decisions remain the responsibility of the site using the slug.

Frequently asked questions

What separator can I use?

You can choose either a hyphen or an underscore.

Can the slug keep uppercase letters?

Yes. Turn off the Lowercase option if you want to preserve case where possible.

Are accents removed?

Common combining diacritic marks are stripped after Unicode normalization.

Does the tool check whether a URL already exists?

No. It only generates the slug text and does not contact a website or server.

Is my title uploaded?

No. The transformation runs locally in your browser.
