Image Compressor
Reduce image file size by re-encoding JPEG, PNG, or WebP, optionally limiting dimensions, and compare before/after size. Files stay in your browser.
Re-encode a PNG, JPEG, or WebP image locally with a chosen output format, quality setting, and optional maximum dimensions, then compare the resulting size with the original.
How to compress an image
- Choose a PNG, JPEG, or WebP image.
- Select JPEG, WebP, or PNG, set quality, and optionally enter maximum width or height.
- Compress the image, review dimensions and size savings, then download the result.
Compression behavior
The image is redrawn through canvas at the normalized output dimensions. JPEG output receives a white background before the image is drawn.
A lower quality setting can reduce JPEG or WebP size, but results depend on the source and browser encoder; the output can sometimes be larger than the original.
Privacy and limitations
Compression happens locally in your browser and the image is not uploaded. Browser encoding support, memory, and canvas limits affect large images and final file characteristics.
