CSV to JSON

Paste CSV text and convert it to a JSON array. Handles quoted fields, escaped quotes, and Windows-style line endings per RFC 4180. Optionally use the first row as object keys. Runs in your browser.

Browser-local No signup required JSON

Convert comma-separated CSV text into a JSON array directly in the browser. You can use the first row as object keys or generate col1, col2, and similar column names automatically.

How to convert CSV to JSON

  1. Paste CSV text into the input box.
  2. Choose whether the first row should be used as JSON property names.
  3. Review the JSON output that updates as the input changes.
  4. Check the reported row and column counts.
  5. Copy the JSON when the structure looks correct.

CSV parsing and header behavior

The parser uses commas as delimiters and supports quoted fields, doubled quotes inside quoted fields, and CRLF or LF line endings. Quoted fields can contain commas and line breaks.

With First row as header enabled, the first parsed row becomes the property-name list. When it is disabled, the tool generates col1, col2, and so on up to the widest row. Completely empty data rows are skipped, and missing cells become empty strings.

Privacy and limitations

Conversion happens locally in the browser and the CSV text is not intentionally uploaded for processing. The parser is designed around comma-separated CSV and does not auto-detect tab, semicolon, or pipe delimiters. It also does not infer number, boolean, or date types; cell values remain strings.

Frequently asked questions

Can quoted fields contain commas?

Yes. Commas inside quoted fields are treated as part of the field.

Are doubled quotes supported?

Yes. Two consecutive quotes inside a quoted field become one literal quote.

What happens if I disable the header option?

The tool generates col1, col2, and similar keys based on the widest row.

Are numbers converted to JSON numbers?

No. Parsed CSV cells are kept as strings.

Are blank rows included?

Rows whose cells are all empty strings are filtered out.
