Unix Timestamp Converter
Convert Unix timestamps (seconds or milliseconds) to human-readable dates and times, or convert a date back to a Unix timestamp. Supports multiple output formats and local timezone.
Convert Unix timestamps to readable date values, or turn a local date and time back into Unix seconds and milliseconds. The converter also shows ISO 8601 UTC, local date and time, and a UTC string.
How to convert Unix timestamps and dates
- Enter a Unix timestamp in the timestamp field, or choose Use current time to load the current value.
- Convert the timestamp to see seconds, milliseconds, ISO UTC, local date, local time, and UTC string output.
- To go the other direction, choose a local date and time in the date field.
- Convert the date to Unix seconds and milliseconds and copy any result you need.
Seconds, milliseconds, UTC, and local time
Timestamp input is treated as milliseconds when the entered text has 13 or more characters; shorter numeric input is multiplied by 1,000 and treated as seconds. The resulting JavaScript Date is then shown in several formats, including ISO 8601 UTC and locale-formatted local date and time.
The date-to-timestamp field uses a browser datetime-local control, so the selected wall-clock value is interpreted in the browser environment rather than as an explicit UTC value. Time-zone and daylight-saving behavior therefore follows the browser and operating system.
Privacy and limitations
All conversion runs locally in your browser. The converter relies on JavaScript Date and your browser time-zone environment; ambiguous local times around daylight-saving transitions or values outside the practical Date range may require additional verification.
Frequently asked questions
How does the tool distinguish seconds from milliseconds?
Timestamp text with 13 or more characters is treated as milliseconds; shorter numeric input is treated as seconds.
What time zone is ISO 8601 shown in?
The ISO 8601 result is UTC and uses the standard Z suffix.
What time zone does the local date result use?
It uses the locale and time-zone environment of your browser.
Can I use the current time?
Yes. The Use current time button fills and converts the current timestamp and local date-time value.
Are timestamps sent to Votilo?
No. Conversion is performed locally in the browser.
