Screen PPI Calculator
Enter screen resolution (width x height in pixels) and diagonal screen size (in inches) to calculate pixels per inch (PPI), display category (HD / FHD / 4K / Retina), and physical dimensions in centimetres. Runs in your browser.
Calculate approximate screen pixel density from horizontal resolution, vertical resolution, and diagonal size in inches, then estimate physical screen width and height.
How to calculate screen PPI
- Enter the screen width and height in pixels.
- Enter the diagonal screen size in inches.
- Press Calculate to see rounded PPI, a rough category, and estimated physical dimensions in centimeters.
How the calculation works
PPI is the pixel diagonal, sqrt(width² + height²), divided by the diagonal size in inches.
Physical width and height are inferred from the pixel aspect ratio and diagonal length; the SD/HD/FHD-QHD/4K-Retina/5K-HiDPI labels are simple PPI bands used by this tool.
Privacy and limitations
The calculation is local and uses only the three numbers you enter. The category label is a rough convenience label based on PPI thresholds and should not be treated as an authoritative display-standard classification.
Screen PPI FAQ
What information do I need?
Pixel width, pixel height, and diagonal size in inches.
Does resolution alone determine PPI?
No. Physical diagonal size is also required.
Is the physical size exact?
It is calculated from the entered diagonal and pixel aspect ratio.
What is PPCM?
The tool internally derives pixels per centimeter from PPI divided by 2.54.
Does it detect my monitor automatically?
No. You enter the specifications manually.
