Dividend Yield Calculator
Enter the gross annual dividend per share or unit and the matching price to calculate dividend yield. Taxes, withholding, fees, and future dividend changes are not included.
Use the Dividend Yield Calculator to convert a gross annual dividend and a matching share or unit price into a percentage yield. It is designed for country-neutral arithmetic: you provide the annual dividend amount and the price, and the tool performs only the division needed for gross dividend yield. No tax rate, withholding rate, broker rule, or live market value is assumed.
How to use the dividend yield calculator
- Enter the gross annual dividend per share or per unit.
- Enter the price per share or per unit using the same basis.
- Calculate the gross dividend yield percentage.
- Compare the percentage only after confirming the dividend and price refer to the same currency and unit basis.
How dividend yield is calculated
Gross dividend yield = annual dividend ÷ price × 100. For example, an annual dividend of 5 on a price of 100 gives a 5% gross yield.
The annual dividend should represent the total gross dividend for a full year on the same per-share or per-unit basis as the price.
A zero annual dividend produces a 0% yield. The price must be greater than zero because dividing by zero is undefined.
The calculator does not estimate future dividends. If a company changes, suspends, or increases its dividend, the result changes only when you enter a new annual dividend value.
Privacy, scope, and investment notice
All values are processed locally in your browser. Taxes, withholding, fees, currency conversion, reinvestment, special distributions, future dividend changes, and price changes are excluded. Use dividend and price values that share the same currency and per-share or per-unit basis. The result is a simple gross historical/input-based ratio, not a forecast, recommendation, or measure of investment quality.
Dividend yield calculator FAQ
What is dividend yield?
It is the annual dividend divided by the share or unit price, expressed as a percentage.
Is this before or after tax?
Before tax. The calculator uses gross dividend input and applies no tax or withholding rule.
Can I use any currency?
Yes, if the dividend and price use the same currency.
Can I enter a zero dividend?
Yes. The result will be 0%.
Why must price be above zero?
Dividend yield divides by price, so a zero or negative price is not valid for this calculation.
Does it use the latest stock price?
No. You enter the price yourself.
Does it predict next year’s dividend?
No. It uses only the annual dividend amount you enter.
Are special dividends included?
Only if you deliberately include them in the annual dividend input.
Is a higher yield automatically better?
No. Yield alone does not indicate safety, quality, future returns, or whether a dividend will continue.
